NINE INCH NAILS Playing A Dry Show?

November 3, 2005

Launch Radio Networks reports: NINE INCH NAILS may have METALLICA to thank for playing an alcohol-free show in Toronto, Canada, according to the Toronto Sun. The Air Canada Centre, where the band is scheduled to play on November 10, has had its liquor license suspended for three shows as punishment for unruly and drunken behavior that broke out at a METALLICA concert there in October of 2004. The Ontario Alcohol And Gaming Commission will pick three concerts out of five submitted by the arena to serve its suspension. Other acts whose shows may come under the ban include DEPECHE MODE, GWEN STEFANI and SIMPLE PLAN.

The Air Canada Centre has had its liquor license suspended three times in four years. At the METALLICA show, alcohol was sold to at least one person who was already intoxicated, and illegal drugs were used as well. The arena can make up to $160,000 in liquor sales during one show. NINE INCH NAILS frontman Trent Reznor probably won't be too upset about the ban, having embraced sobriety prior to writing the band's latest album, "With Teeth".
